The future of Lighting control is in the Clouds!

May - 2021
Dharmendra Patel - MD
According to Forrester Research, the global public cloud infrastructure market will grow 35 percent to $120 billion in 2021, as the cloud continues to be the focal point in the recovery from the pandemic. “The aggressive move to cloud, already proceeding at a healthy clip before the pandemic, will spike in 2021, yielding even greater enterprise adoption, cloud provider revenue and business value,” the Cambridge based market research company said in its “Predictions 2021” report.

Can the lighting industry, an integral part of the economy, be left far behind? Pharos Cloud has pioneered the adoption of Cloud technology giving incredible control to the end user to schedule, manage and monitor vast lighting installations from anywhere in the world using just the mobile phone and net connection. The Helvar Cloud solution is another such solution.

We look forward to offering the Cloud solutions to our clients, solutions that have vast potential to multiply the choices in terms of programming, remote monitoring, and maintenance of lighting installations.
The Future of Lighting Controls is in the Clouds!

Any lighting design and installation project goes through several stages including identifying the requirements, determining the method of lighting, selecting the lighting equipment, calculating various parameters, adjusting the design, determining the control system, choosing the luminaire and final inspection.

Once the project is handed over and is up and running, changes to the programming or investigating any issues requires the presence of a skilled professionals thereby incurring financial and environmental costs. This is particularly relevant to large installations such as museums, theme parks, showrooms, exhibitions etc. controlled 24/7 by a range of sophisticated devices.

Enter the Cloud solution that offers a simple, reliable remote lighting control and management system, from anywhere in the world, at any time.

UK based Pharos Controls and Finnish brand Helvar, two of our esteemed partners in the region, are all geared to offer cloud-based lighting control systems to our clients. This is going to change the world of lighting controls and we are extremely excited to introduce the myriad benefits this offers to our new and existing clients.

Features
Pharos Designer can be connected to your Cloud account and you are ready to upload directly over the Internet from anywhere in the world. You can schedule tasks using an online scheduler so that they run when required and this can be updated as needed. A multi-page control panel can be built for end users to recall tasks from PC, tablet or mobile. Each device’s list of published triggers can be accessed and fired directly from the Cloud. A single login can control multiple Pharos Cloud sites, with one or more devices per site. Your controller can be connected to the cloud by simply pressing a button. There is a provision for diagnosing problems even if the controllers go offline as your controller’s status information is stored on the cloud server. There is no need for additional hardware as the Pharos controllers are connected to the Internet via their Ethernet port.

Benefits
It is possible to view real time status and access instant notifications for quick reaction to critical events. The bandwidth requirements are low. It also allows multiple people to access the site by setting remote user permissions and even the hardware settings can be adjusted remotely. The Site control panel allows buttons to be added for making lighting changes, adjusting site properties, or changing site modes. The Site Control Panel can be easily used on a phone, tablet, or computer without additional software or app. Pharos Cloud uses industry standard security to protect login access and all connections.

In short, the Pharos Cloud is a globally accessible and fully collaborative solution that provides easy access to Management, Monitoring and Scheduling of your lighting control system installations.

Light Tip
Lighting up your office space

Allow natural light as much as possible. Employees who were exposed to natural light reported an 84% drop in eye strain, headaches, and blurred vision. Color and temperature of office lighting should be adjusted depending on the function of the space. Warmer yellow or orange lights tend to be better for relaxing, whereas cooler blue and white lights are good for working and concentrating. Similarly, the brightness of the light should be according to the tasks to be performed. While common areas can be drenched in natural light, desks and workspaces need a more controlled and focused environment.
