Lighting controls are part of a high-quality energy-efficient lighting system that integrates daylight and electric light sources to provide a comfortable and visually interesting environment for the occupants of a space.

Gone are the days when installing a lighting control system was only to enhance the ambience of a room. Today, in an eco-conscious world, they form the backbone of energy conservation and are integral to every type of building. They are no longer considered an ‘extra’ in the building cost and are a part of every lighting design plan. Installing a layered, daylight-integrated lighting and control system assists inhabitants in controlling lighting, reducing glare and highlighting the architectural design.

Their advantage is not restricted to energy saving alone, when used properly; lighting controls will increase the life of bulbs, lamps and electrical components.Lighting controls ensure that the right amount of light is available at the right place and at the right time.

Emaar’s two new projects, Sunrise Bay and 52/42 have now taken their place by the waterfront embracing the Dubai skyline with a unique signature all their own. Offering stunning views of the sea and a collection of premium apartments, both projects were given out to a common panel of designers, contractors and service providers. In both these projects, Creation Gulf was retained as the Lighting Controls Solutions expert.

A taste of island living at Sunrise Bay
 
Sunrise Bay is a 26 storey high-rise residential complex of two towers inspired by modern yachting culture and is located on the island between Dubai Marina and the iconic Palm Jumeirah. Showcasing stunning views of the sea, the complex offers a collection of lifestyle apartments. Sunrise Bay offers a selection of 1,2,3 and 4-bedroom apartments. All units have a contemporary design, spacious living areas and wide balconies. The apartments are designed with materials of the highest quality. Glamorous bedrooms, minimalist bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic balconies create a resort-like atmosphere.

A Well-connected Paradise
 
Nestled in one of the most sought after residential areas in Dubai, 52|42 rises up tall to meet the sky. The two towers, of 52 and 42 storeys, host a total of 260 and 162 luxury residential units respectively, with an additional 44 apartments located on the podium level.
 
As with all its other projects, Emaar strove for an iconic and unique facade when designing the two towers. These two luxury residential towers with the striking nautically-inspired architecture feature a ship-like silhouette and smooth aerodynamic lines, while the glass-fronted facade gives the tower fluidity. The extensive balcony frontage allows full height glass walls that expand the interior space beyond the enclosed building.

The Scope
 
“The Client and Consultants gave us a different brief for each area. Lighting Controls were specified for the public spaces (lobby, corridor, parking etc) landscape and façade,” explains Mr. Dharmendra Patel, Managing Director, Creation Gulf.
 
For Parking, in corridors and BOH areas, lights are non-dimmable and controlled through the sensor and override switch. In public spaces - the lights are dimmable (DALI, Phase and 0-10V). For the façade, lights are non-dimmable and controlled through an external daylight sensor and timer.

Helvar all the way!
 
As is the case with all Emaar projects, ease of maintenance is very important for the client. Helvar has been implemented on a number of projects in the past for Emaar, and the repeat business over the years is a testament to the performance of Helvar. The intuitive software, easy to install/program devices, and simplicity of system architecture make life easy from an operations and maintenance perspective.

Every project whether big or small is not without its challenges. “Whether it was a change intent, additional requirements along the way or tight delivery schedules, Creation overcame every hurdle and despite the pandemic managed to complete the project on time,” concludes Mr. Patel.

Light play with space
 
Did you know that to make a space feel light and bright, lighting the vertical surfaces does the trick? Well done vertical(wall) illumination tends to expand space. Alternatively, just focusing on lighting horizontal lines makes a space cosier. At different times of day, you can use these tricks to create different ambiences.

Bab Al Shams Reimagined

Creation Gulf completed a prestigious project at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort in Dubai. The project involved the supply, testing, installation and commissioning of GRMS that includes the Lighting Control system for the 105 Standard rooms and 10 Suites. The lighting design was carefully curated to elevate the guest experience.

Lights On at City Social!

The process of creating perfect lighting design involves many stakeholders and requires careful attention to deadlines and fixture order lead times, but the end result can be stunning and transformative. At City Social, our most recent project at Grosvenor House, #TeamCreation was tasked with supplying light fixtures that allowed the lighting designer to achieve their design intent.
