Carnival - A Light and Food show extraordinaire

To say the UAE market has matured is an understatement, as interior designers are diving in to the game of using light to create a certain mood. The job for us as lighting engineers gets that much more interesting. Our experience at Carnival is one such partnership that speaks for how much can be achieved if designers of space team up with designers of light.

Speaking of lighting and designers, from Oct 31st- Nov 2nd Creation Gulf is all set to welcome some of our esteemed principals to the Light Middle East 2016. This premier B2B event for the region will see Mode Lighting (Stand No. G33, Hall 3) and Control Network Solutions from UK along with Acolyte LED , from USA and Neuhas Lighting Group, Germany (Stand No. D33, Hall 4) exhibiting a range of new products and technologies which we will present in detail in our next month’s newsletter.
Carnival - A Light and Food show extraordinaire

The word Carnival translated in Hindi is ‘Mela’. And every true Indian relates to the word Mela as a place where food, fun and lights run riot.

Carnival- Dubai’s latest uber chic eatery at DIFC offers just that- a ‘fun-fare’ in an extraordinary package. This whimsical restaurant takes a creative spin on exotic post-modern Indian molecular gastronomy and its interiors reminiscent of an Indian ‘Mela’ are spectacular to say the least.

Designed by Modo Milano, in rich metallic golds offset by jet black walls, thick black velvet curtains and a dark zebra wood floor, the idea was to create a whole new world. However, without the magical lighting design by DPA and the dimming systems supplied by us, it is a world that would have remained largely undiscovered.

To lend a warm ambience in the dark mystery inspired interiors, Creation employed a range of features that include smooth transitions, adjustable fade times and a time clock to deliver just what the Interior designers had conceived- an unreal, mythical even space where food, fun and frolic rule supreme.

Creation has successfully worked together with fit out specialists Exceptional Interiors, on ‘Tre’- a restaurant in Nassima Royal. Pleased with the system's performance, service provided, and the solution oriented attitude of the team, Creation was called on board to work on Carnival as well.
Bar Feature with 630 glass bottles





An integral design feature at Carnival is an elaborate display of 630 glass bottles at the bar. This feature called for an adept lighting solution that culminated in the installation of individually addressable and controllable RGB nodes beneath each bottle to create a stunning pinpoint lighting effect that adds an indisputable allure and charm to the feature.
On another wall, clever lighting brings into focus a collective display of Venetian face masks that entrench the ‘Mela’ flavour. DPA Lighting’s careful positioning and orientation of the lights highlight the enigma of the masks making them lifelike.

Mode Lighting U.K.’s dimming systems, Pharos Controls DMX control systems, Forma Lighting Italy’s track lights along with scene settings over the reception area, the display windows, the general dining section, the bar and private dining space has the restaurant’s ambience always set to warm and cozy. X-LED, Germany’s RGB Nodes were implemented for the custom bottle display and this called for the customization of the pixel pitch which had to match the site requirements.

For Creation to be able to integrate system from multiple brands such that the end user can enjoy a single system with an identical user interface for both the dimming and DMX control system is a testament to our abilities in finding simple solutions to resolve complex issues.

Bab Al Shams Reimagined

Creation Gulf completed a prestigious project at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort in Dubai. The project involved the supply, testing, installation and commissioning of GRMS that includes the Lighting Control system for the 105 Standard rooms and 10 Suites. The lighting design was carefully curated to elevate the guest experience.

Lights On at City Social!

The process of creating perfect lighting design involves many stakeholders and requires careful attention to deadlines and fixture order lead times, but the end result can be stunning and transformative. At City Social, our most recent project at Grosvenor House, #TeamCreation was tasked with supplying light fixtures that allowed the lighting designer to achieve their design intent.
