About light.ication v4.0
This part of the Light Show is where light meets education. This event is in its 4th edition, and Creation has continuously supported it for the last two versions.
The word Light.ication, means ‘Lighting Design through Education’. As an initiative, Light.ication was founded by Sakina Dugawalla, Design Director & Founder at Light.Func. |
|
|
It aims to encourage mentorship & creativity through the active interaction and participation of the peer lighting design community and university and college students exposing them to the creative and technical characteristics of lighting design. Experienced Lighting Design studios act as mentors and help create installations with students, putting the whole industry up for a session of fun, stress, creative acumen and of course, collaboration. |

A Dual theme for 2019
Every year, a theme is selected for Light.ication. This year, this initiative is based on a dual theme- “2019- The UAE’s Year of Tolerance” and “Women In Lighting(WIL)” This year, UAE's mission is to "highlight the impact of tolerance, and to expand the scope and opportunities for communication and dialogue". The WIL initiative, "is not about gender inequality but about inclusiveness and how female presence benefits the profession as a whole." This year, Light-i-cation has been opened up globally, and participants will have to create light installations that interpret these two topics to be displayed digitally at Light Middle East 2019 at the Light.ication pavilion.
WOMEN IN LIGHTING is an inspirational digital platform that profiles women from the field of lighting design. It aims to promote their passion and achievements, narrate their career path and goals, celebrate their work and therefore help elevate their profile in the lighting community as there is a need to increase the visibility of successful women in the lighting industry to help encourage, support and inspire the next generation.

Make the lighting match the brand
Light adds or subtracts from the perception of brands. As a general rule, customers associate ambient with low cost and accent with upmarket. It’s important that lighting design and the stores fixtures reflect the brand’s values.
